Meizu 15 Plus release date, specs leak: Rumored dual-curved handset spotted online with screen protector

Official render of the latest Meizu Pro 6 smartphone Meizu website

The rumors are rife that Meizu is about to release a new series of flagship smartphones to mark the Chinese firm's 15th anniversary. Among the rumored handsets set to arrive in the coming months is the Meizu 15 Plus. The company has yet to confirm that a new premium phone is underway, although images of the alleged Meizu 15 Plus with its glass protector have already been leaked recently.

The latest set of leaked images of the Meizu 15 Plus came from the potential manufacturer of the smartphone's screen protector. While Meizu has not said a word about the 2018 handset's design and features, the photos of the device and the glass screen protector reveal that the Meizu 15 Plus will sport a dual-curved screen with further reduced bezels.

It is important for smartphone accessory manufacturers to get the final render of the device so that the cutouts for certain features will be placed correctly. As for the Meizu 15 Plus, it is possible that the company's supplier already got the actual design of the smartphone, which would be used to make the screen protector to fit nicely into the display panel.

Based on the Meizu 15 Plus screen protector images, it appears that the smartphone will not a have spot for the fingerprint sensor at the front. Interestingly, the rear view of the handset does not show a fingerprint reader at the back either. With this, there is a possibility that the handset will be among the first few to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. Although, another source points out that the biometric reader in the leaked renders can actually be found on the right side.

A side fingerprint sensor for the Meizu 15 Plus will be a surprising twist, although it can be recalled that recent Sony Xperia phones launched outside the United States have also sported the same feature. Nevertheless, having the fingerprint reader on the side could be more convenient instead of it sitting beside the rear camera lens. So far, the latest flagship smartphones have the fingerprint sensor at the back so that the front display will have an immersive, all-screen view.
