Mass Effect 4 release date for Xbox One, PS4 remains unconfirmed by Bioware

Mass Effect fans may get their hearts broken this year, as the game's developers reportedly pushed aside any possible release of a new version to focus their work on Dragon Age Inquisition.

Amazon had already ignited the anticipation of the game's fans when it released two ads for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Mass Effect 4, yet the game's producer Mike Gamble shared that the game is still in its early development stages, and it would take several years before it can be actually released.

Also, Executive Producer Casey Hudson of the entire Mass Effect franchise said that they will give the project its much-needed break since it has been in circulation for the last couple of years. The break will also serve as a time for him to explore more options. Apparently, Hudson left the franchise, but BioWare still has to confirm the reports about his departure from the company.

Leaked reports had been making the rounds in the Internet over the last couple of months, saying that the new Mass Effect game will not feature Shepard anymore, and it will introduce a new hero for the next game. It is also stated that game developer BioWare is also preparing a new multiplayer RPG game called Shadow Realms, which will feature a combination of fantasy and contemporary elements in the video game.

The Mass Effect series began back in 2007, and has produced a number of spin-offs, novels, as well as graphic novels. An anime adaptation titled Mass Effect: Paragon Lost was also released back in March 2012, and a movie adaptation is also said to be in the works.

Currently, the franchise has three versions, including Mass Effect (2007), Mass Effect 2 (2010), as well as Mass Effect 3 (2012).

As of the moment, the only fact gathered about the release date of Mass Effect 4 is definitely not sometime this year.
