'Agents of SHIELD' season 3 plot rumors: Will the Inhumans and Afterlife interact next season?

The news is finally about ABC's renewal of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." TV series for its third season, which means that the peacekeeping forces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be back for another action-packed installment.

But what do the agents have to face in the upcoming season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Before the second season ends, a two-hour finale will be aired to tie up all the loose ends since the season started in September 2014.

Based on the official synopsis of the two-episode season two finale titles "S.O.S" parts 1 and 2, a lot of things are at stake for the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

The synopsis for the episode reads:

"S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to put everything on the line to survive a war that blurs the line between friend and foe. Coulson and his team will be forced to make shocking sacrifices that will leave their relationships and their world changed forever."

Series executive producer Jeffrey Bell teased fans about what the season two finale is all about in an interview with Zap2it.

According to Bell, fans will be divided about how they view the real motives of Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) in the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. Some of them will understand why he had to be what he is, while the others will empathize with Coulson's (Clark Gregg) followers.

Bell also teased about what is in store for the Inhumans and Afterlife in season three, especially since Chloe's biological mother Jiaying (Dichen Lachman) betrayed her when she plotted to make S.H.I.E.L.D. look like the villain by attacking Afterlife.

"We try and design the finale to tie up most of the big storylines for this season and then launch a whole bunch of new mysteries and questions and possibilities," Bell teased. "I encourage people to watch this finale because I think we do answer a lot of the big questions, but there are a couple big teases that promise more where we've been going."

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season three is expected to return this fall.
