'Marvel's Agents of SHIELD' season 3 spoilers, plot: Simmons' mysterious disappearance and Skye's transformation

Major changes are going to happen in "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." when it returns to the small screen for its 22-episode third season.

The show will reportedly have a major time jump after the events that happened toward the end of the sophomore season, when Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) got absorbed by the Kree monolith which is intended to destroy the Inhumans.

The cast of the Marvel TV series spoke in front of a panel during ABC's appearance at the 2015 Television Critics Association summer press tour, as reported by Zap2It, and they shared several details about the upcoming season.

According to Chloe Bennet, the actress who portrays the role of Skye/ Daisy Johnson in the series, the big time jump will force all the characters to deal with Simmons' disappearance, except her constant partner Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker).

Henstridge revealed that Fitz will play the biggest part in helping find Simmons.

"It's Fitz's mission to get Simmons back. It's a solo mission," the actress shared. "I think that the whole team has tried and nothing has worked, so at some point you have to go, 'She's gone, we have to move on.' But Fitz refuses to do that. I don't blame them, but I'm kind of mad. [laughs]."

Henstridge also revealed that it will not take a long time before the agents find out where the Kree took Simmons. The actress said that season 3 will deal with the consequences of her disappearance which may not sink in for a while.

On the other hand, Bennet's character will also have a major transformation. The young, inexperienced Skye will turn into the more mature and highly skilled agent Daisy Johnson in the upcoming season, and she will sport a new, shorter hairdo and a cool new costume. Bennet shared that she will have to fully embrace her character's transformation in the new season.

"Yeah, she's grown up this year which is hard for me to play because I'm four years old. You'll see a much more mature version of Daisy," said the actress.

Also, the cast said that the upcoming season will no longer focus on Hydra. Instead, it will deal with Daisy and Mack's (Henry Simmons) quest to track down the Inhumans and Simmons' disappearance.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 will premiere on Sept. 29 on ABC.
