Man of Steel 2 Sequel and Prequel? Russell Crowe is up for KRYPTON prequel, more news at Comic-Con San Diego

Fans are still raving about Man of Steel, the latest Superman movie starring Henry Cavill, and are already demanding that a sequel and prequel be made.

And it seems that fans have been asking Russell Crowe on the possibility of a Superman prequel, based on the land of Krypton.

Crowe recently tweeted this message to his Twitter fans: "A lot of you are asking about a KRYPTON prequel, if that's something you feel strongly about let @Legendary pictures know your thoughts."

Director Zack Snyder recently revealed that he wanted to include more of Krypton's destruction in the film but that the scene had to get smaller for budgetary reasons.

"The first draft actually had more even on Krypton," says Snyder, according to Empire. "The destruction of Krypton was crazy and we linearised that because it was like the birth and then all of these flashbacks within flashbacks and the timing of Zod's approach. There was a bigger battle that I had designed on the landing platform and we shot some of it, but for budgetary reasons it got smaller and smaller and then it got to the point where I was just like, 'Let's just have the battle inside.'"

Screenwriter David Goyer also gave some insight into the sequel. "This is a movie where the world learns that he exists and he decides to assume the mantle of Superman, so by the end of the film when he has that scene with General Swanwick, in our minds, the world has only been aware of Superman a month, or three weeks or something. That montage that you're talking about can't really happen yet. Presumably it would happen in another film or in between the next film."

Man of Steel made just under $600 million worldwide in less than a month since its debut, already proving to be the the most successful superhero reboot ever.

It is rumored that Man of Steel 2 has already been given the go-ahead where Goyer and Snyder will work together to create another blockbuster hit - but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Fans are hoping that more news for a sequel be released at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con.
