'Mafia 3' release date news: next installment set to be best yet when it releases in October

"Mafia 3" is deemed the best in the series. 2K Games

Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Hangar 13 which is working on the highly anticipated "Mafia 3," is "very excited" about the title. The company believes that it has the makings for success.

During the latest earnings call for Take-Two, president Karl Slatoff said that putting together "Mafia 3" required them to push the envelope and do thing they haven't done before in the series.

Describing "Mafia 3," Slatoff said (via Video Gamer) that the action adventure video game has "the perfect combination of what people are looking for in open world story based driven title."

He said that the new "Mafia" game has "a lot of things that a lot of games don't have, a lot of time and money is going into, so we've got a great creative team, team led by Haden Blackman."

Slatoff added that gamers who played the previous games will notice the improvements of "Mafia 3" from its predecessors. He said that getting it right in the action adventure genre should bring them rewards to reap.

He believes that "Mafia 3" will do just that for Take-Two and Hangar. "We think this time we're vastly exceed what Mafia – the previous Mafia – has been able to accomplish over the past," Slatoff said.

"Mafia 3" will boast long hours of gameplay and content for players to explore. Earlier this month, a gameplay footage was released, giving fans a taste of the superb in-game driving experience.

The game will offer fast and classic muscle cars and exhilarating car chases, comparable to the driving action only seen in Hollywood movies.

A lot of work went into these elements of "Mafia 3" for realistic driving. Like in the real world, cars get stuck in puddles and race at their max when in pristine streets. This will be recreated in the upcoming game.

"Mafia 3" will be released on Oct. 7 to the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
