Macbook Pro and Air 2016 release date rumors: laptops to launch at Apple WWDC in June?

The Apple Macbook Pro with Retina Display Apple

New Macbook Pro and Air 2016 release date rumors hint that the upgraded laptops from Apple won't arrive next month. According to reports, the new-gen notebooks will not be launched at Apple's upcoming March event, contrary to previous reports.

During the affair, the long-rumored Apple iPhone 5se, the iPad Air 3 and new Apple Watch bands will allegedly be unveiled. The Macbook Pro and Air 2016 redesigned versions, however, won't be uncovered by the Cupertino-based company just yet.

It looks like Apple is saving the Macbook Pro and Macbook Air 2016 for the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference, which is happening in June. However, reports say the devices won't go on sale until the third and fourth quarter of the year.

Looking into the Macbook Pro release date history, predicting the launch date is tough. Apple introduced the Macbook Pro Retina back in June 2012. In March last year, the software giant introduced the latest version of the Macbook Pro.

When the new Macbook units turn up, they won't have the touchscreen feature, as IDC program director Ryan Reith suggested. As per the latest Macbook Pro 2016 specs rumors, it is unlikely that the notebook will don a touchscreen, despite more and more laptops sporting such technology.

It is, however, expected to come with the mega-powerful Intel Skylake processor under its hood. The chipset is believed to be part of the Macbook Air 2016's specs sheet as well. With the unit equipped in the laptops, they are expected to perform better and nippier. Its low power consumption will help the units conserve battery life as well.

Rumor has it that there are two Macbook Air 2016 units on the way – the first one with a 13-inch display and the other with a 15-inch screen. It remains unclear if both will be unveiled together. The Macbook Pro 2016 upgrade is said to come in the form of a 12-inch unit.
