MacBook Pro 2016 vs Microsoft Surface Pro 5: Which machine is worth picking up?

Surface Pro 5's predecessor Microsoft

It will be an epic battle of machines between Apple and Microsoft later this year with the MacBook Pro 2016 and the Surface Pro 5 expected to go head to head this June.

There have been a lot of reports and leaks about the respective devices and through this information, users can determine which of the two they should look forward to.

On the design front, fans of portability and users who are always on the go will naturally pick the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, which can transform itself into a full-blown laptop and lightweight tablet.

There's a Surface Pen that comes with it to make things manageable in tablet mode and rumor has it that this accessory will be rechargeable, which mean longer hours of usage.

The MacBook Pro 2016, on the other hand, although reputed as the bulkier type of MacBook, is expected to go lightweight as well and it's all thank to the Intel Skylake, which Apple will put under the laptop's hood.

The powerful processor boasts low power consumption, which will allow Apple to fully ditch a fan on the MacBook Pro 2016. This should make the notebook thinner and lighter while enjoying the benefits of improved performance and stability.

However, when it comes to what's humming under the hood, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 has so much to offer as well, with its maker rumored to use Kaby Lake, the successor of the Skylake and presumably more powerful chip Intel is expected to ship later this year.

When it comes to the display quality, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 plans to catch up on the MacBook Pro 2016, which is expected to boast Retina Display. Reports say that the 2-in-1 device by Microsoft will come with 4K resolution display.

Meanwhile, Apple also reportedly plans to use an AMD GPU for the new MacBook Pro, one whose power is twice the one on current MacBooks.

The MacBook Pro 2016 and the Microsoft Surface Pro 2016 are expected to be released in a few months' time. The former by June and the latter is expected to be out earlier in a bid to steal the thunder from Apple.
