Macbook Air 2016 to come in 3 versions between April and June?

MacBook Air 2014 in two sizes Apple

If new reports are any indication, the much-talked-about Macbook Air 2016 will be seen in the flesh in a few months. Rumor has it that there will be two versions of the highly anticipated laptop –- one with a 13-inch display and another with a 15-inch screen.

According to reports, the sizes are that way because Apple does not want the device to steal the thunder from the 12-inch Macbook with Retina display and the Apple iPad Pro, which comes in a 12.9-inch display (humongous for a portable slab).

Interestingly though, there are also opposing speculations that there will be a third Macbook Air 2016 version that will boast a 12-inch Retina display, like the flagship version.

As for the release date, word on the street is that the Macbook Air 2016 will be released in April, two months earlier than the Worldwide Developers Conference, which usually takes place June. Either way, speculations suggest that around those months, a new Macbook will emerge.

In fact, it is being reported that the Macbook Pro 2016, initially believed to be released months after the latest iteration of the Macbook Air is made available, will be released together with it. That being said, Apple's Macbook lineups will be updated this year.

As for the specs, it is expected that Apple will give the Macbook Air and Macbook Pro 2016 thinner and lighter builds but with twice the power. In order to do so, The Cupertino-based tech firm will make use of an ultra-powerful processor, possibly Intel Skylake.

Users also hope that the new Macbooks will don Retina displays, much like their predecessor. The laptops are also rumored to boast longer battery life and bigger RAM. To date, there are no specific details about the improvements Apple will do on the Macbook Air and Macbook Pro 2016.

But with the purported launch of the machines drawing closer, more concrete details should surface.
