Rumors about the release date of the next-generation MacBook Air have started to become persistent toward the end of 2015. But if the speculations turn out to be true, the upcoming flagship will be available in the market in the middle of next year.

According to report spotted by Australia Network News, the new MacBook Air will reportedly come out during Apple Inc.'s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June 2016.

Based on the report that cites an earlier report from the Economic Daily News, the Cupertino-based tech firm will be unveiling the latest product under the MacBook Air product line during the annual developer's conference in San Francisco, CA next year.

The tech firm said it will be significantly thinner than previous models. The rest of the specs include a USB Type-C support and the newest OS X El Capitan operating system.

Other rumors claimed that the upcoming MacBook Air 2016 will have a Retina display on its larger product version, since the 13-inch MacBook Air will miss out on this new technology because of its smaller screen.

On the other hand, other reports about the upcoming device claimed that the MacBook Air 2016 will also come with a Touch ID built within its Trackpad. This could provide better security when completing an Apple Pay transaction. It will also reportedly come with the same Force Touch technology that is currently featured in the 13-inch MacBook Pro released in March.

Previous reports claim that the release of the next-generation MacBook Air was deliberately postponed so that Apple Inc. can focus on marketing the newly released iPad Pro.

Apple Inc. has yet to confirm if any of the rumors about the MacBook Air 2016 are accurate.
