The production for "Longmire" season 5 officially starts next week. The cast and crew of the hit Netflix series will be back on set to film brand new episodes.

In response to a fan account that announced the nearing of filming, actor Lou Diamond Phillips, who plays the role of Henry Standing Bear in the series, responded that filming will start "end of March."

In another tweet, the actor said that "Longmire" season 5 filming will officially begin on March 23. This makes a September 2016 premiere highly likely.

The fourth season of "Longmire" premiered September last year so fans are expecting that "Longmire" season 5 will be out around the same time as well.

There aren't any details about the events that will transpire in the new season yet. The fourth season left a cliffhanger, which sees Walt in the face of new danger.

In the final moments of the last season, Walt was chilling out in his house and spending quality time with Dr. Donna Monaghan aka his new darling when an intruder cuts short their sweet time.

It remains to be seen who that trespasser is but it's clear that the sheriff's and his sweetheart's lives are in grave danger. With the nature of events, "Longmire" season 5 should pick up from where it left off.

"Longmire" was renewed for a fifth season back in October 2015. Netflix did not show the viewership for the show or any one of its programs but it looks like the streaming giant is happy about the crime drama.

For the uninitiated, "Longmire" was cancelled by its original home A&E after three seasons. It was given new life by Netflix, picking up the show for a new season.

Some thought it would only be resurrected for one season but it looks like "Longmire" has attained success that made a renewal inevitable.

"Longmire" season 5 episodes should drop on Netflix in September.
