'Longmire' season 5 cast news: Omar officially returning

Omar and Vic will be reunited in "Longmire" season 5 AETV

With the production of "Longmire" season 5 well underway, morsels of details about the upcoming season of the Netflix crime drama trickle in, including the possible return a fan-favorite character -- Omar, who is played by Louis Herthum.

Actress Kate Sackhoff, who plays Vic in the series, teased in a tweet that fans will without a doubt be "excited about who's coming back" in episode 4 of the season.

Sackhoff did not give a clue as to who might that be, but Herthum himself made the confirmation.

A good portion of the "Longmire" community has been rooting for Herthum to reprise his role as Omar in "Longmire" season 5. The firearms expert appeared in the first three seasons of the show as Walt's resource.

Considering that Sackhoff is most excited about this character comeback, it makes sense that it will be Herthum's character, since Vic and Omar shared a lot of scenes together in "Longmire."

Also a popular guess was Barry Sloane's Zach, who first appeared in season 4. It is also mind-blowing to imagine that Deputy Sheriff Branch Connally played by Bailey Chase will be the one to come back since the guy is already dead.

There are a lot of possibilities presented with the return of Herthum in "Longmire" season 5. The reveal definitely boosted the hype and excitement of fans for the new season.

Meanwhile, although production is ongoing, the cast of "Longmire" found time to unwind and take a break. Sackhoff updated on Twitter about her and her castmates' karaoke night.

"Longmire" season 5 is expected to be released on Netflix in September. Fans can enjoy longer episodes for this season.
