Until now we have been speculating that the premiere of Season 5 of the much loved "Longmire" series would be somewhere in the second half of 2016.

Finally, to the relief of anxious fans, Netflix has announced via its Twitter page that the fifth season of the extremely popular series will be aired on September 23, 2016.

While fans are desperately waiting for the new season, primarily wanting to find out who was responsible for the attack on Walt at the end of season 4, many are also hoping for more scenes showing Henry and Mathias together.

Meanwhile, spoilers for the new season are all over the internet. A lot of those spoilers have to do with a change in the acting line up with Sterling Beaumon from Modern Family expected to play Andrew, a smart preparatory school kid. According to Parent Herald, he is reportedly caught by Walt and Vic when breaking into Donna's home.

The new cast for Longmire might also include Dylan Walsh as Shane Muldoon, a criminal mastermind.

However what really has fans on tenterhooks is the rumor that a number of characters could wave goodbye to the series, which has been shot in New Mexico. The news is rife with speculations about who would go and who would stay, with many predicting that Henry (Lou Diamond Phillips) who has a habit of getting into trouble might just be the one to go. Others including 'Game N Guide' have predicted that a change in storyline puts Cady (Cassidy Freeman), Ruby's (Louanne Stephens) and Zach (Barry Sloane) in the line of fire.

With a story line that is woven around Walt (Robert Taylor) chasing the Irish crime fraternity after a murder involving drugs, the biggest spoiler for fans has come in the form of the news about Vic-Walt romance building up despite the obvious age difference. Although some fans have shown dislike for the idea, others are eagerly anticipating a budding romance between the two. As rumours abound over the possibility of Andrew being Donna's son, the Vic-Walt romance might not be a long shot after all.
