Netflix is still undecided about the fate of "Longmire" after the end of its fourth season, but the executive producer of the critically acclaimed crime drama is still hoping to bring back the show for a longer period of time.

During an interview with Yahoo! TV, "Longmire" executive producer John Coveny shared some of his plans for the show.

"We threw a lot of knives in the air in Season 3, and we've caught a lot of them in Season 4. When we pitched the series to Netflix, they talked about how long we want to keep the show going. Realistically, we have Seasons 8, 9 and 10 in our heads; it's a rich world, and we're just beginning to scratch the surface of it," Coveny stated.

However, the executives of the online entertainment streaming provider are still mum regarding the status of "Longmire" season 5 at this moment. But if fans could have their way, they would bring back Robert Taylor's character Walt Longmire for a fifth season.

On the Facebook page of the Longmire Posse, several tips were given to help Netflix decide about "Longmire" season 5.

The tips include giving five-star rating to the series on Netflix, giving positive feedback about the show by calling the streaming service provider's customer service hotline or its chat box, as well as commenting on the official "Longmire" and Netflix's Facebook page, among others.

"Longmire" was originally aired on A&E before being cancelled after its third season. Netflix picked up the series for its fourth season due to the overwhelming demand from its wide fan-base. The streaming service company also allowed the show's executives to add more depth to the story.

"The Netflix format has allowed us to experiment with the typical rhythms of television. So the cliffhanger that's resolved in Season 4 comes at a different time than you'd usually expect. And once it ends, not only is that storyline resolved to the satisfaction of our fanbase, there are other stories that launch from there," Taylor shared during the same interview with Yahoo!
