"Life is Strange" will be released to the public later this month, but there is a big story behind the development of the game.

According to the recently unveiled developer diary for the game, Dontnod Entertainment mentioned that they fished around for different publishers before settling with Square Enix because most of the other publishers wanted to add a male lead character.

Jean-Maxime Morris, the creative director of the game, shared: "Square is basically the only publisher who didn't want to change anything about the game. We had other publishers telling us to make it a male lead character, and Square didn't even question that once."

The nine-minute developer diary, shot in the Parisian studio of Dontnod, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the game. It also shares a brief background of the title, as well as the origins of the story and its characters.

"Life is Strange" is an interactive episodic drama graphic adventure video game that focuses on the life of photography student Maxine Caulfield who finds out that she has the gift of going back to the past, which could lead to the butterfly effect.

Maxine is joined by friend Chloe Price, who she just recently reunited with. They meet a girl named Rachel Amber, who mysteriously disappears. Together, Maxine and Chloe try to find out why Rachel disappeared.

The first episode of "Life is Strange" will come out on Jan. 30 for different gaming platforms, including the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, as well as the PC platform.

Those who plan to play the game on PC should at least have a Windows Vista, a dual-core 2 GHz CPU or higher, an ATI or Nvidia card with 512 MB of RAM (Intel HD GPUs are sadly not recommended) and 3 GB of available storage space. On the other hand, the recommended PC requirements for the game should have Windows 7, a dual-core 3 GHz CPU or higher, 2 GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or ATI HD 4890 GPU and higher with 1 GB of VRAM and 3 GB of available space.
