LG V30S ThinQ is basically the V30, but with new colors, an AI-assisted camera and more RAM

Electronics manufacturer LG participated in the Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC 2018) with a new phone called the LG V30S ThinQ. While those planning to get a new model from the company may be delighted with the prospect, most people thought that the phone is basically the V30, but with more random-access memory (RAM) and an improved artificial intelligence (AI) built in.

Granted, the improvements are more than trivial, as it improves the capabilities of the model significantly compared with its predecessor. However, most people expected that these updates were to be included with a software update for the V30. Some reviewers think that the upgrades are not enough to justify buying an entirely new phone.

As for the upgrade details, one of the most impressive may be the AI-assisted camera. The machine learning incorporated on this software was said to have involved more than 100 million images. As a result, the camera can reportedly judge scenes with precision. This would produce pictures with better color accuracy, or at least better compared with an unassisted camera.

There is also "Bright Mode," which is a technique used to provide more exposure to photos taken in dark environments. What the phone does is it combines four pixels of the image and make them into one to create an illusion of brightness. Of course, with the number of pixels ultimately reduced, the resulting photo is of lower resolution compared with pictures taken with the standard shooting mode.

There is also "QLens" technology, with online shopping as its primary purpose. Ideally, the user could point the phone's camera at an item on Amazon and the phone will automatically set up the purchase details. However, this technology has proven quite inaccurate right now, which led some to believe that its implementation was rushed.

Those looking forward to buying the V30S ThinQ may have to wait, as it will be made available in Korea first. It will be for sale on other countries at a later date and the price will vary according to region.
