LG is among the participants expected at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 later this February. While the tech enthusiasts are already anticipating the South Korean tech giant's latest flagship phone, the LG G7, to be showcased at the upcoming convention, previous reports hint that LG will only launch the latest variant of the LG V30 smartphone. The company's executive has also confirmed recently that the LG V30 Plus Alpha, stylized as V30+α, will boast its impressive artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities at the MWC.

As reported by Android Headlines, LG Electronics Managing Director for South Africa, CY Kim, has revealed that an all-new LG V30 variant can be expected at the MWC this month. He did not specify the latest features of the upgraded LG V30 Plus Alpha handset, but based on the rumors, the smartphone will receive advanced AI technology to rival the other flagships.

Aside from the AI features, however, the LG V30 Plus Alpha is still expected to sport the same design and appearance as the original V30. There might be a few tweaks in the smartphone's inner specs to integrate with AI functionalities, but there are no major changes expected. If ever, the upcoming LG V30 Plus Alpha could have identical appearance and specs as the previous LG V30 Plus variant, with 128 GB of built-in storage and 6-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) Full Vision display with Quad HD+ resolution of 2,880x1,440 pixels.

Based on its predecessor's other specs, the LG V30 Plus Alpha might also receive an HDR10 playback support, plus the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM), although there is a chance that the Alpha variant will make the jump to the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset. The smartphone could also run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update out of the box.

The LG V30 Plus Alpha could also introduce some improvements in the camera department. To note, the original LG V30 has a dual-lens rear camera module which is a combination of a 16 MP standard sensor with f/1.6 aperture and a 13 MP wide-angle sensor with f/1.9 aperture. The rear camera also features a 120-degree field-of-view. Meanwhile, the smartphone's front-facing shooter has a 5 MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 90-degree field-of-view.
