The arrival of LG's 2018 smartphone flagship, the G7, is said to be undergoing a major revamp, thus having its launch date delayed indefinitely. The LG G6's successor was expected to appear at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) earlier this month, but instead, the South Korean tech firm unveiled the LG V30S ThinQ. However, the latest reports claim that the LG G7 launch is imminent, with a launch event happening in May.

According to the latest scoop from the South Korean tech publication ETNews, the LG G7 is likely to be unveiled in the last week of April or early May. A few days after the announcement, the smartphone is set to be released in the market in several markets worldwide. Interestingly, a larger variant of the handset is also underway, the LG G7 Plus. Aside from the larger display, nothing else was specified regarding the differences with the regular-sized G7.

Unfortunately, the redesign of the LG G7 might have compromised its price. The upcoming flagship is expected to be more expensive compared to its predecessors, with the price tag featuring an increase of 100,000 won, or around $94. The reason behind this huge price hike is uncertain, although the hardware upgrades and additional features could have something to do with it.

It was also tipped that the LG G7 will sport an OLED display with an iPhone X-like notch area on the top portion. The AI camera features, first showcased by the LG V30S ThinQ, is expected to be present in the LG G7 as well. Being LG's flagship of the year, the G7 is believed to have improved AI capabilities compared to the updated V30 handset. A Quad-DAC audio system is also included in the LG G7's build.

Going to the camera department, the LG G7 will introduce some slight improvements. For one, the dual-lens rear camera setup will have the two 16-megapixel lenses vertically-aligned instead of being positioned beside each other. Under the hood, the handset is packed with a 3,000 mAh battery. along with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM).
