LG G5 Lite release date, specs: model spotted in benchmark test

The LG G5 will come in various editions, if a new leak is anything to go by. A new GFXBench listing hints that a different model of the flagship will be released and will be dubbed the LG G5 Lite.

The standard flagship from the South Korea-based tech firm goes by the model number LG H830. The one on the benchmark test has the model number LG H840, but contrary to what is expected based on its model number, it does not have higher specs than its predecessor.

It was named LG G5 Lite because it comes with a 5.3-inch Quad HD display. The standard version is expected to sport a 5.5-inch screen. It also got its name for its midrange processor, which is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset.

Its bigger brother is rumored to boast the all-powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The LG G5 Lite will reportedly have 3GB RAM to offer, with 32GB expandable storage space to boot. The handset will also sport 8MP cameras both on the front and back.

As for the LG G5, the smartphone is expected to don a classy metal body. Reports also say that the flagship will feature a fingerprint scanner and a hefty battery that can be accessed and swapped via a sliding compartment on the bottom of the device.

To keep up with the times, the device is getting a USB Type-C port. There are also reports that it will get an iris scanner, which is a much more advanced type of biometric measure, and not many devices have it.

The LG G5 will be unveiled on Feb. 21, a day before the Mobile World Congress. It is unclear if the LG G5 Lite will be there as well but Samsung's flagship – the Galaxy S7 – will be launched on the same day.
