Rip Hunter's (Arthur Darvill) old friend lends a hand in the next episode of "Legends of Tomorrow."

In the episode, titled "The Magnificent Eight," the legendary bounty hunter Jonah Hex from DC Comics will be introduced. The character will be portrayed by "Sleepy Hollow" and "Texas Rising" star Johnathon Schaech.

According to the official synopsis for the episode, "When the team needs a place to hide out, Rip sets a course for the Old West. Upon arrival, they start a fight with a gang of outlaws, putting the small town in jeopardy. Luckily, an old friend of Rip's, Jonah Hex, steps in to save them."

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim first revealed Jonah Hex's involvement in the anti-hero series in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in January. He said that the morally abstruse gun slinger has knowledge about time travelling, which is why he can help his old friend Rip and his team in their next adventures.

"Ever since we decided that Legends would involve time-travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West," Guggenheim stated. "But if you're going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply must include Jonah Hex in it. We're thrilled about bringing another well known, beloved DC character to television."

This will be the first time that the character will be featured in a live-action DC television universe. But the character was already featured in a 2013 film, titled after his name, and was portrayed by Josh Brolin.

Guggenheim also praised Schaech's portrayal of the iconic DC Comics character in an interview with Den of Geek. "Johnathon is an amazing Jonah Hex. I would say very, very faithful to the comics incarnation with a touch more sass, a little bit more attitude. That might have had something to do with the fact that I wrote episode 11 and I can't seem to write characters without sass," the executive producer said.

"Legends of Tomorrow" episode 11 airs Thursday, April 14, on The CW.
