'Captain America 3' spoilers: New photos show Captain America's battle with Crossbones

 Marvel Studios

With less than a year left before Marvel Cinematic Universe's "Captain America: Civil War" debuts on the big screen, more details are starting to be revealed. Several leaked photos give fans a sneak peek into the battle between Captain America (Steve Rogers) and Crossbones (Frank Grillo).

Fans of the Marvel comics know that Crossbones killed Captain America, but there is no information given if the film adaptation will follow the same path as the comic books, since the Avengers leader will have to face more villains in the upcoming installments in the franchise.

Aside from Crossbones, Baron Helmut Zemo (Daniel Bruhl) is also reported to become one of Captain America's nemeses, as if his hands are not already full in fighting most of the members of the Avengers and the S.H.I.E.L.D. team.

Another leaked image posted on Instagram by an avid Marvel fan shows that S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Peggy Carter will die in the movie. The image features the funeral announcement of Agent Carter that will be held at the St. Luke's Cathedral. Carter is portrayed by Hayley Atwell in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with "Captain America: The First Avenger" shown in 2011.

Other leaked photos from the set shows actors Robert Downey Jr. and Paul Rudd visiting the set's location.

Downey will reprise his role as billionaire Tony Stark/ Iron Man, who will have a big falling out with Steve Rogers/ Captain America after they argue about the new government decree which requires superheroes to register themselves so that they would be subjected to a system of accountability. The discord between the two will also affect the entire Avengers team in the movie.

Rudd, on the other hand, will reprise his role as Scott Lang/ Ant-Man, who will be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his own stand-alone movie that premieres on July 14.

Other members of the star-studded cast include Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/ Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/ Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/ Falcon, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch, and Martin Freeman in a still unspecified role.

"Captain America: Civil War" is scheduled to premiere on May 6, 2016.
