The next episode of "Law and Order: SVU" season 17 promises to drop "the biggest SVU shocker of the year" and this bombshell appears to involve someone in the unit potentially getting killed in action.

In the "Law and Order: SVU" season 17 installment, titled "Sheltered Outcasts," Carisi goes undercover as a homeless man in order to know if the sex offender at the shelter he joins is responsible for the series of rape cases that rocked the city.

The team knows that this undercover mission is extremely risky. Rollins even said in the "Law and Order: SVU" season 17 promo that "tons of people get killed in those places." Indeed, the unit will glaringly realize they thought right.

Things go awry during Carisi's undercover mission. The detective will be targeted by a group of big angry men led by an even angrier dude who thinks that Carisi is the rapist. The guys look like they are ready to serve justice.

The next scene in the "Law and Order: SVU" season 17 shows Olivia and other SVU members approaching a covered dead body found on the scene where Carisi was confronted. The clip makes it look like what Olivia is about to see underneath the sheet is his friend's remains.

It remains to be seen whether or not Carisi pays for a crime he did not commit. But with the Special Victims Unit aware of the dangers of the mission, it is safe to say that Carisi prepared for it and that a backup is at his disposal.

Will this "Law and Order: SVU" season 17 episode mark the end of Carisi? Even with his fate still unsealed, fans are already worried about where the show is apparently headed regarding the character.

It wouldn't be a surprise if Carisi is alive and well. "Law and Order: SVU" fans will remember how Liv was booted out of the team but was instantly reinstated. Things as horrible as this do not seem to stay permanent.

Whether or not this will be the case for Carisi, fans will know when "Law and Order: SVU" season 17 episode 19 "Sheltered Outcasts" airs March 30 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
