Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole new album 2016 release date still uncertain, but music producer friend of the duo is certain it's going to happen

Although news about Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole's collaborative album has been scarce in the past weeks, reports insist that two of the biggest rappers of today are still working on the project.

Music producer Cardo, who had the chance to work with Lamar and Cole individually, recently spoke about the mindset of the artists when it comes to making music and putting out albums, which should help in deternmining the progress of the Lamar-Cole project.

After admitting to Complex how big of a fan he is of Cole, he revealed that the "Fire Squad" rapper is not someone who lazes about when it comes to making an album. Cardo describes him as someone who puts great focus on whatever projects he is doing.

The same goes for Lamar, who Cardo helped out with the beats in his surprise album "Untitled Unmastered," which had songs that were named "untitled" followed by a specific date.

Talking about Lamar's attitude towards work, Cardo said "Kendrick's not the type of guy who just sits on records. He wants people to hear it. He presents it the right way with this project," he said, adding that "With Kendrick, I just feel like something will happen."

Based on Cardo's statements, if Lamar and Cole are working on their album right now, they should be hard at work in stitching it together and that they are trying to make it work as a collaboration.

Seeing that previous rumors claim the delay of the project is due to their style differences, Lamar and Cole might be taking a while to make it all work.

Top Dawg Entertainment president Dave Free also reminded fans in an MTV interview that these artists are still two individuals who need "to get in a space to create a song." This could be the reason the Lamar-Cole album is taking so long to come out.

Fans have been waiting for Lamar and J. Cole's album for a while now. It was previously rumored to launch back in February but fans ended up getting an album from Lamar instead, something his fans definitely are happy about.

There are expectations and speculations that Cole's next album will include Lamar to some extent. The last album he released is "2014 Forest Hills Drive." There were two that followed – one is a collaboration (Revenge of the Dreamers II) while the other is a live studio album (Forest Hills Drive) released last January.
