The much-awaited Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole album, allegedly titled "Reminiscing," is expected to be launched this March, specifically during the fundraising event to be held by President Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee on March 11.
It was the personal request of the president for Cole to be the musical guest for the affair. Obama also happens to be a fan of Lamar, which could come into play in regards to the long-rumored album.
Fans hope that the president of the United States, who admitted he likes Lamar's hit "How Much a Dollar Cost," could play a part in making the Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole album a reality.
Rumors about the rappers' collaborative project started back in 2012, the year they allegedly got together to sew up some songs. American rapper and producer Oddisee claims to have recorded a track with them.
However, the production was allegedly transferred to Cole's recording studio because he wanted to personally produce it instead. But even if that's the case, Oddisee is confident in saying that Lamar and Cole's album "does exist."
Initially, it was rumored that the album would be released last Feb. 16. This, needless to say, did not transpire but fans are still positive that Lamar and Cole will be surprising them with a stellar joint album soon.
Taking into account that the album was to launch early this month, the delay was purportedly due to the Lamar-Cole tandem unable to coexist, with their disparate musical styles getting in the way.
There's also word that Lamar and Cole's album's release was pushed back to allow for more and more artists to be part of it, reportedly including multi-instrumentalist Prince and rapper Drake.
Even though the album is already around the corner, it looks like Lamar does not want anyone to know. When he and Cole initially started working on it, he vowed via Uproxx that he "ain't gonna give no dates, no nothing" and just "let it fall."
