While last year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" fell in the bad graces of some fans and critics alike for being devoid of humor, it is said that the same thing cannot be said about the upcoming "Justice League" movie as it will have lots of comic moments in it despite being not a comedy movie.
There is no denying that "Justice League" is one of the most anticipated and biggest movie events this year. Despite the excitement that comes with the imminent arrival of the movie, some cannot help but worry, though, that it may disappoint them anew, just like how last year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," which, despite being a box-office success, was slammed by many fans and critics for being too serious and dark. However, according to "Game of Thrones" actor Michael McElhatton, who plays an undisclosed role in the upcoming DC and Warner Bros. movie, fans can expect "Justice League" to have a good amount of humor in it.
"I found that the scene I did, which is a big opening scene, was pretty dark in its tone. But in a good way. It wasn't comic booky, but I think you can thread a certain amount of humor through it, which maybe the previous one ('Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice') was lacking," McElhatton told Red Carpet News TV recently.
To recall, Zack Snyder, director of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Justice League," received some whipping from fans and critics at the wake of the showing of the former last year. While he admitted that he never saw the negative reviews on the movie coming, he said he also took the criticisms as an opportunity to better his craft, specifically with the upcoming "Justice League."
"It did catch me off-guard. I have had to, in my mind, make an adjustment," Snyder told a select group of press during a "Justice League" set visit in London last year.
If the words of McElhatton are to be the basis, it seems that Snyder has, indeed, learned his lesson. In fact, the actor only has good words for the director, describing him as someone whose passion for his craft cannot be questioned.
"He just lives those comic books. ... he knows exactly what he wants and yet he is amazingly loose and open to suggestions," McElhatton said.
