'Justice League 2' cast news: 'Arrow' star Stephen Amell would like to be in the sequel

The DC Extended Universe may be completely separate from its television counterpart, but that has not stopped TV actors from hoping to be involved in one of the films. The most recent to express interest is "Arrow" star Stephen Amell.

When asked during a panel at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest San Jose about the idea of appearing in a potential "Justice League 2," Amell said he would like to be in the sequel.

"I'm so happy with my role within the DC universe," he told the audience. "And whether that is the Arrowverse, the DCEU, the DMV, the BLT, I could, you know what, honestly, would I like to be in a sequel to the Justice League movie? Well yeah, I'd like hanging out with Jason Momoa, so sure!"

Unlike Marvel, DC has kept its film and TV universe separate to avoid impeding the stories its creative talents are trying to tell. In DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson's own words, a single universe for both mediums "could end up handcuffing our creators into trying to work with the same storyline or force them to hold back characters or introduce certain characters." This is cemented by the fact that they have different Flash actors for the DCEU and for its CW show.

Amell is aware of this division and he acknowledges the unlikelihood of him suiting up as his TV character on the big screen. However, he says, "It's all good, doesn't bother me." He has nothing but good wishes for DC and their film projects.

His comment echoes that of fellow "Arrow" star Manu Bennett's who plays Deathstroke on TV. The actor said he would be happy to join the League on the big screen, but he is very much contented with staying on the small one, too. Although he admitted it was quite disappointing not to have such a wonderful opportunity, he is very happy for his film counterpart, Joe Manganiello, for bagging the role. Bennett expressed his confidence in Manganiello's ability to portray the assassin, also saying he supports him just like everyone else.

While a TV/film crossover is too far-fetched right now, fans do not need to worry much. There will not be less of Amell and Bennett on the small screen. With the recent crossover "Crisis on Earth," The CW's Arrowverse looks to be getting bigger and better as it goes on.

"Arrow" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
