Less than a month before "Jurassic World" premieres on the silver screen, pre-release tracking analysts have shared their predictions that the latest installment in the "Jurassic Park" franchise will gross over $100 million at the box office in the U.S. and Canada during its opening weekend alone.
According to The Wall Street Journal, movie tracking surveys released the figures Thursday, claiming that the Colin Trevorrow-helmed installment is already the most highly talked-about coming attraction of all the films that will be released in the next four weeks. Although the report claimed that audience interest rarely falls during the last weeks before a film's debut, the box-office success of a movie also lies in critics' assessments as well as the word-of-mouth of early viewers.
Meanwhile, one of the trailers for the movie shows Owen (lead star Chris Pratt), the theme park's resident Velociraptor trainer, having a session with three of his dinosaurs named Blue, Echo, and Charlie. However, other scenes show Velociraptors hunting down the park's guests when a hybrid species experiment backfires and the Indominus rex causes major chaos in Isla Nublar. It is not sure, though, if Owen's Velociraptor friends are among the dinosaurs who are taunting the humans.
On the other hand, the latest extended trailer for the soon-to-be released movie tries to capture the nostalgia of "Jurassic Park" fans who saw the original film back in 1993 by including the voice of late actor Richard Attenborough, who portrayed the role of "Jurassic World" visionary John Hammond. Attenborough's voiceover is a fitting tribute to the actor who passed away in August 2014.
Aside from Pratt, "Jurassic World" also features: Bryce Dallas Howard as the park's operations manager Claire Dearing; Irrfan Khan as Simon Masrani, the new owner of Jurassic World; Vincent D'Onofrio as Vic Hoskin, the head of security operations for the former park owner InGen Corporation; and Omar Sy as Barry, the caretaker of Owen's Velociraptors.
"Jurassic World" premieres worldwide on June 12.
