Josh Duggar's downward spiral continues after his infidelity was uncovered on the onset of the Ashley Madison website hack. But this time, other people are being dragged down because of the controversy.

Josh's younger sister Jessa Seewald seemed to have used a Biblical verse to defend him from his critics. On her Instagram account, Jessa shared a photo where 1 John 1:9 is obviously underlined.

The verse says: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Those who saw this post felt that she was pertaining to her brother, who earlier confessed to cheating his wife Anna using several Ashley Madison accounts, as well as other websites that promote infidelity. Gawker recently revealed that the former Family Research Council lobbyist kept two accounts in Ashley Madison to lure women to have an affair with him from February 2013 to May 2015.

But Jessa's post received more criticisms online. Several Instagram followers pointed out that Josh did not actually confess since he only talked about it when he got caught. Others reminded her that she should not come to her brother's defense.

Aside from Jessa, another innocent person became involved in Josh's controversy.

A Hollywood DJ named Matthew McCarthy is suddenly dragged in a national scandal after his photo was used in one of Josh's OKCupid account. TMZ revealed that the DJ already lost a job opportunity after the scandal broke out since the club reportedly felt that he is somehow involved in the present controversy.

McCarthy is now studying his legal options against the eldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.

The cheating scandal is the second big blow for the Duggar household. In May 2015, In Touch Weekly exposed an old police report that revealed a past child molestation case where Josh sexually assaulted several young girls, some of which were later revealed to be his younger sisters.

This prompted TLC to pull out their show "19 Kids and Counting" off the air, and Josh was forced to resign from his post as the executive director of Family Research Council. He and his family also had to move back to Arkansas from Washington in the wake of the scandal.

Josh is married to the former Anna Keller since 2008, and they currently have four children.
