After "Jessica Jones" gave Marvel its very first Emmy Awards over the weekend when the show won the "Outstanding Main Title Theme Music," fans of the superhero series are already looking forward to seeing what's next for the titular heroine in season 2.

At the end of the first season, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) managed to defeat and kill her main nemesis, Kilgrave (David Tennant). This means that the superhero/private investigator will have to face a new set of enemies next season.

Several speculations claimed that "Daredevil" season 2's biggest villain, Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), may be crossing over from Hell's Kitchen to the other streets of New York City to face Jessica Jones in season 2. Since Netflix announced early this year that Bernthal will reprise his role as the deadly vigilante in his very own spin-off series, it is not impossible to see him in the network's miniseries based on Marvel's "The Defenders" arc.

Meanwhile, executive producer Melissa Rosenberg told Entertainment Weekly in an interview that they are planning to explore the relationship between Jessica and her best friend/adoptive sister, Trish Walker (Rachel Taylor), next season. "That is the core relationship in the piece. It is about female friendship, it is about how friends evolve — they're sisters, really — and it's about how they evolve and ping off each other," Rosenberg stated.

But while several fans are rooting to see Jessica and Trish's friendship bloom into something romantic, the executive producer revealed that they will focus more on the women's history, as well as their trust and bond with each other.

However, fans of "Jessica Jones" will have to wait for a while before the series returns for season 2 since the network will release "Luke Cage" on Sept. 30, while "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders" will occupy the slot in 2017. This means that "Jessica Jones" season 2 may be out sometime in 2018.
