'Jessica Jones' Season 3 release date latest news: Netflix renews Marvel series for third season

It has been a month since Marvel's "Jessica Jones" season 2 premiered on Netflix, which once again features the show's titular hero and her new mission as the city's private investigator. The same as the first one, the second season ended with a possibility of a continuation, but the final word will still come from the show's producers and Netflix. Recently, the confirmation was made by Netflix that "Jessica Jones" season 3 is indeed happening. However, the fans will have to tune in for more updates in the coming months as the third season has just been greenlit.

As reported by Den of Geek, Netflix announced earlier this week that Marvel's "Jessica Jones" has been renewed for season 3. Given the positive reception from the fans and critics alike, it is no longer surprising that Netflix would give a go signal to create a third season. However, the announcement did not specify when the new season will arrive.

For now, the public should expect that "Jessica Jones" season 3 will not be released right away, especially that the last season has only been out on Netflix for a month.

Also, the show's creators will still need to come up with a fresh storyline that will effectively carry on the hype from the second season. It is also worth mentioning that "Jessica Jones" is not the only show from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that is wating for Netflix's approval to start with a new season.

Before the second season of "Jessica Jones" premiered, new MCU shows like "Luke Cage," "Iron Fist," "The Punisher," and "Daredevil" season 2 have appeared. It is likely that season 3 will be put on hold as the new seasons of the mentioned shows are about to be released in the coming months. There is also the possibility of the second season of "The Defenders" going first before "Jessica Jones" season 3.

The most likely prediction for "Jessica Jones" season 3 is a late 2019 premiere, possibly in November. The third season will once again feature Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), a private eye that possesses superhuman strength and abilities to help her solve the most twisted cases in the city. She is aided by her best friend, Patsy (Rachael Taylor) and a fiesty attorney, Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss).
