Despite being out of the court for months due to his ruptured patellar tendon, Brooklyn Nets' Jeremy Lin is still fully booked for various engagements. This includes the "Life of Lin" series of Sports Illustrated, among others.
The series follows the recovery of the 6'3" point guard. In its first episode, Lin discussed his desire to play with a team. He also talked about his struggles because of his injury, which he knew will have a huge impact on his career. He said that when the injury happened, he thought:"Why now? I felt like I was at a place mentally and physically in my game where I was poised to break out."
Because of what happened, he began having "self-doubt," but he managed to overcome it with the help of his family and friends. He is also inspired and encouraged by the get well messages from fans. Currently, Lin is still continuing his knee rehab in Vancouver. He needs to learn to walk, jog, run and cut once his knee is fully healed.
Aside from the series, Lin has a collaboration with PGC Basketball to host a basketball clinic for high school players at National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) headquarters. The clinic will be participated by both boys and girls from ages 13 to 17.
Lin will assist in teaching the young players for a one day of instruction, leadership training, and drills. It will start at 2 in the afternoon until 8:30 in the evening. This will be his first public appearance with the media since his injury last year.
The point guard will also meet one lucky Chinese fan at Barclays Center. NBA China sponsored the fan's trip to Brooklyn in order to meet Lin and watch a game of the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets, Nets Daily reports.
There will also be a 10-minute documentary titled "Jeremy Lin: Roots" which will air on NBA China TV as part of their Chinese New year special programming. Lin will appear in NBA's Chinese New Year greetings, along with Caris LeVert.
