After Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) finally gave birth to her son Mateo at the end of the first season, the 23-year-old new mom will have to face more unexpected challenges when "Jane the Virgin" returns Monday night for season 2.

In the second season premiere, Jane will find out that baby Mateo was kidnapped by Sin Rostro. But the two will not be separated for long, based on the statement given by series showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"I love comedy, so every time I pictured the season premiere and Jane without her baby and crying, I just knew we had to find a way to bring back the baby quickly," Urman stated. This means that the kidnapping issue will be resolved in the first minutes of the episode, and viewers will know exactly why Sin Rostro kidnapped Mateo.

But getting Mateo back does not mean that things will start to run smoothly for Jane and her loved ones, as new problems are expected to arise this season. It might probably involve another baby from Rafael (Justin Baldoni).

Based on the synopsis for the premiere episode, Petra (Yael Grobglas) is still contemplating what she should do with Rafael's sperm samples at the lab. It could mean that she will decide to use it so she can finally give birth to her ex-husband's child.

When asked about it, actress Grobglas claimed that she still has no idea if Petra is prepared to become a mother just to get Rafael back. In an interview with Huffington Post, Grobglas shared: "If Petra does get pregnant, I'm just excited to see what kind of mother she's going to be. Because it could go two ways, she could either be what you expect Petra as a villain to be, kind of a cold mother, or it could turn out to flip her personality completely and she could become this lioness, defensive, wonderful mother."

Jane is also expected to deal with her parents Xo (Andrea Navedo) and Rogelio's (Jaime Camil) impulsive drunk wedding in Las Vegas this season.

"Jane the Virgin" season 2 premieres Monday, Oct. 12, on The CW.
