iPad Pro 2018 release date, specs & features rumors: All-new tablet with iPhone X design to be launched at WWDC 2018

Per the latest reports, Apple is expected to unveil the next-generation of the iPad Pro this year, which will introduce groundbreaking changes in the typical iPad design. It is rumored that the 2018 version of the iPad Pro will follow the trend started by the iPhone X, which means that the high-end tablet could go with an all-screen display with minimal bezels, as well as front-facing image sensors for the Face ID feature.

According to Bloomberg, it is possible that the Cupertino-based tech giant will launch a brand new iPad Pro model this year. This time around, the iPad Pro 2018 lineup will include a 10.5-inch variant. Regarding the release date, it is believed that Apple will announce the latest iPad Pro series at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 4. CNET has noted that the company could follow the same schedule as last year, in which the most recent iPad Pro update was also announced in June.

The iPad Pro 2018 could be the first in the Pro lineup to introduce the classic iPhone X features, such as an all-screen display with reduced bezels on the top and bottom portion. As the iPad Pro receives a fully immersive view, the home button will be removed as well.

Thus, the users can no longer expect the Touch ID feature on the latest iPad Pro model, MacRumors reported. The device will be left with the facial recognition or the Face ID system, although it is not certain if the new iPad Pro will get the same notch as the iPhone X, wherein the TrueDepth camera sensors are contained.

KGI Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo earlier predicted that the iPad Pro 2018 would go the same path as the iPhone X by becoming the "modern iPad." The major design overhaul in the upcoming iPad Pro was already teased by an earlier version of the iOS 11.3 beta.

Apple unveiled the sixth-generation iPad at the company's education-focused event in Chicago last month. The latest entry-level iPad highlights the Apple Pencil support and the new A10 Fusion processor. The plans for the top-tier iPad Pro model have yet to be revealed, but more information will be made public at the WWDC event this coming June.
