iPad Pro 2 expected to come without the headphone jack

It has been a while since Apple released a refresh for the iPad Pro, leading fans to wonder whether the tech giant will be launching an update to its tablet line this year. Recent rumors claim that Apple is now gearing up for the iPad Pro 2, and it will have state-of-the-art features that make it on a par with the premium tablets in the market right now.

According to reputable tech analyst Ming Chi Kuo, Apple will be offering new sizes for its iPad Pro line. Instead of the 12.9-inch model (2015) and 9.7-inch model (2016), the iPad Pro 2 will come in 10.5 inches and 12.9 inches. The KGI analyst did not say anything about a new variant, but many rumors suggest that an iPad Mini Pro will come out with the iPad Pro 2.

Techdigg notes that Apple could also drop the headphone jack for the upcoming device. Following the fiasco from the iPhone 7's lack of headphone jacks, many believe that Apple will do the same with the iPad Pro 2. Removing the jack allows Apple to keep the tablet thin while also adding more upgrades under the hood. In addition, it gives the device a larger display and a sleeker design.

The current 12.9-inch iPad Pro has 4 GB of RAM, while the 9.7-inch variant comes with just 2 GB. The iPad Pro 2 will possibly have 4 GB for all versions, making two smaller units as fast and powerful as the larger model.

Meanwhile, an upgraded camera is certainly on the wish list of those who love to snap photos with iPads. The latest iPad Pro has a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel snapper, but Apple is not expected to increase that. Instead, the company might implement a dual-lens feature similar to that of the iPhone 7 Plus.

As for the iPad Pro 2 release date, consumers can expect it to arrive sometime in May or June. Considering how the iPad Pro's stocks in stores have recently dropped, reports say that Apple is likely preparing to unveil a refresh soon. There is also a huge chance that Apple will launch the powerful device at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which takes place on June 5–9, in San Jose, California.
