iPad mini 5 release date rumors, specs: tipped for September launch with slimmer but more durable build

Despite the silence from Apple and the lack of solid information, the rumor mill is still convinced that the iPad mini 5 is among the products that Apple will drop this fall.

The tablet is one of the most anticipated releases by the Cupertino-based tech giant and it is expected to be launched this September alongside the iPhone 7.

Save for the iPad mini 4, Apple always released its tablets in a separate event set in October. However, last year, they started unveiling their new iPad releases alongside their iPhone flagships and they are expected to do the same with the iPad mini 5.

Unlike the iPad Air, which did not get an upgrade last year and is now rumored to be ditched by the tech firm altogether, the iPad mini 5 appears to be one of the products that Apple is still adamant in improving.

This could be why the iPad mini 5 is now rumored to dump the 16GB and go with a 32GB version as the entry-level version of the highly anticipated tablet.

This change makes a lot of sense seeing that as technology develops and innovations continue being released, less storage means being left behind.

More to the point, a huge portion of the 16GB storage space is even used for software on the device so it leaves users a far smaller storage to play with.

Apple is also looking into the possibility of being able to slim down the iPad mini 5, but still keep its battery life long and its durability at a high level.

For the latter, Apple reportedly found the solution in the 7000-series aluminum, which will allow to make the tablet lighter, thinner but still heavy-duty.

As for the former, the company reportedly found a way to make this possible and that the technology they come up will be used on other products like the new iPhone.
