iOS 11.3 release date, news: Upcoming update to introduce single sign-on option for websites via iCloud

Apple iOS 11 preview in different Apple devices Apple website

Apple has yet to confirm the latest features of the final version of iOS 11.3, which is currently in beta testing. Nevertheless, different sources have been able to come up with a block of codes in the iOS 11.3 beta build that hint on the OS version's contents. For one, it was found out that the upcoming update will allow users to sign in to several websites for a single time only via iCloud.

9to5Mac was able to read some codes in the iOS 11.3 beta that pertains to the iCloud single sign-in option. The online publication found out that with this latest iOS update, users can just jot down their Apple ID and they would already be signed in on multiple websites. This feature will be made possible by iCloud, thus the users will be required to have their account ready as their log-in information in different websites, including their real name and e-mail address, will be gathered by iCloud.

The scope of the iCloud single sign-on option in the iOS 11.3 update is not yet determined, but it is likely that the users will be the one to grant permission to different websites so that they can access their personal iCloud data. Giving the users' private information to websites might be risky, but for this purpose, the iOS update will spare the users from the hassle of logging in to several websites, and all that is needed is their Apple ID.

As reported by Engadget, there is another feature included in the iOS 11.3 beta update that allows users with an iPhone or iPad to scan a QR code using a camera for them to receive a sign-in request using their Apple ID. This is a faster way to access third-party websites. However, it is not guaranteed if these features will make it to the final cut of the iOS 11.3, given that Apple also promised to bring AirPlay 2 to the iOS 11.2 but was delayed.
