'Indiana Jones 5' movie cast rumors: Chris Pratt to take on iconic role

It seems like another classic blockbuster hit will be given a new life in the big screen, as talks about the reboot of Indiana Jones franchise are starting to make its rounds online.

Rumors claim that Disney Films is planning to make another installment of the classic after it purchased the distribution rights for the films from Paramount Pictures in 2008. Though the plans for the reboot are still in a very early phase, sources claim that the production outfit is thinking of getting Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt to portray the iconic role of adventure-seeking archaeologist Indiana Jones.

If reports are true, Pratt will have a very full schedule ahead of him this year. The 35-year-old actor will start promoting his upcoming film Jurassic World that will come out in June 12, and will be filming a movie with Denzel Washington in April titled The Magnificent Seven. Adding the Indiana Jones in the equation means the actor will have less time for rest in the coming months.

There are also talks claiming that Pratt is also one of the top choices for bringing the role of Uncharted's Nathan Drake in the movie adaptation of the hit video game, but the actor reportedly turned down the role.

The Indiana Jones series began in 1981, when George Lucas came up with the film Raiders of the Lost Ark that focuses on the adventures of fictional Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones. It stars Harrison Ford on the lead role, and was helmed by Steven Spielberg. A prequel titled Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom came out in 1984, followed by 1989's sequel Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

If Pratt will indeed star in the reboot of the film, this will be the first time that Ford will not appear in any Indiana Jones movie after portraying it four times over the years.

Still, it is too early to believe the rumors, and Disney Films still need to make an official announcement about it to confirm the reports.
