'Hyrule Warriors' Switch port release date news: Game to come out on the Switch this May 18

"Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition" coming to the Switch console this May 18 Nintendo/Koei Tecmo

If you are a fan of Nintendo's highly acclaimed "Zelda" series, then this year might be your best bet in experiencing a new title that is set to drop on the Switch this coming May.

During the recently concluded Nintendo Direct presentation, the well-known gaming developer and console creator confirmed that "Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition" will be dropping to the Switch platform this May 18.

In line with the announcement, Nintendo revealed that the Definitive Edition of the game will be packaged with all content previously released for the title in the past such as characters, missions, and DLC maps.

Specifically, it will contain all 29 characters initially released for the Wii U and 3DS. On top of this, a handful of costumes and skins inspired by "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be made available for titular character Link and Zelda in this new edition.

In addition to this, the fantasy title will come with multiplayer support. This new feature will allow players and a companion to play the game simultaneously through the controllers.

Although now confirmed, Nintendo did not share any details regarding gameplay enhancements of the new Switch port. Aside from this, they did not tease any footage of the game during the event.

Originally, this new port version of the "Hyrule Warriors" was announced back in January through another one of Nintendo's Direct presentations, however, it is only now that they have released a specific dropping date for the game.

"Hyrule Warriors," primarily, is a hack-and-slash–themed game that shares similarities with "Dynasty Warriors." It will see players battle against hordes of foes as anyone in the vast selection of characters.

In other news, Japanese fans will be receiving the new edition on a much earlier date of March 22 the same year.
