HTC One M10 release date, specs news: HTC promises 'very, very compelling camera experience' with flagship

"We can confidently say that HTC will have a very, very compelling camera experience," Chief Financial Officer Chialin Chang said of the successor of the HTC One M9 told CNET. "We're making this comment after we've seen what's going on in the market," he added.

GSM Arena believes that Chang is referring to the latest Samsung and LG handsets – the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5 – introduced during the Mobile World Congress. "Hopefully, this year will be different," Chang continued, showing HTC's desire to rise above the last year's clanger that is the One M9.

The revelation should be a breath of fresh air for followers of the company seeing that HTC hasn't been the greatest when it comes to the imaging department. With a promise of such camera, it looks like the tech firm is stepping up its game.

The HTC One M10 is expected to boast a 12MP UltraPixel rear-facing shooter, complete with optical image stabilization, phase detection and laser autofocus. On the front is a 5MP UltraPixel selfie snapper. Both units should allow users to take high quality images even in low light conditions.

Meanwhile, HTC has teased the coming of the HTC One M10 with a new promo image that appears to shed light on the handset's design. Looking at the image, it's easy to think that the device will come with chamfered edges and a metal unibody.

As for the rest of the specs, rumor has it that the device will come with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and three storage options – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. It is said to feature a fingerprint scanner as well.

The HTC One M10 is rumored to be launched on May 9.
