Mobile device fans should expect to see HTC's next-generation flagship phone soon because leaked reports say that the upcoming handset, dubbed as HTC Hima, will be released in the first quarter of 2015. The leaked release date came from a China-based tipster on Twitter known as @upleaks.

When asked if he believes that the company will follow the move of its rival brand Samsung, which will reportedly release its next Galaxy S6 flagship phone during the CES 2015 tech event in January, @upleaks said no. Rather, he believes that HTC will announce the release of the HTC Hima smartphones during their own special event in March, a day before the Mobile World Congress 2015, to be held from March 2 to 5. Does this mean then that the latest smartphone from the Taiwanese mobile manufacturer will be revealed on March 1?

Meanwhile, @upleaks also speculates that the new HTC phone will not be called HTC One M9 Hima, contrary to early reports. The Chinese tipster said that HTC will remove the M codenames and simply call the device HTC One Hima or HTC Hima.

The tipster is known to be one of the most credible sources of gadget leaks, having been accurate in his predictions in the past, which is why a lot of gadget watchers are actually waiting to see if his revelations about the new HTC Hima are spot-on.

The following specs list of the upcoming HTC Hima device is also posted at the Slash Gear website, saying that the device will be equipped with:

  1. Display: 5-inch, 1080 x 1920 pixel Super LCD3, Gorilla Glass 3
  2. Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (64-bit)
  3. RAM: 3 GB
  4. Battery: 2840 mAh
  5. Internal Storage: 16 GB / 32 GB / 64 GB
  6. OS: Android 5.0 Lollipop, Sense 7
  7. Camera: 20.7-megapixel, OIS, 4k@30fps, 1080p@60fps
  8. Camera (FF): 13-megapixel, 1080p@30fps

Alhough the new details are still unconfirmed by HTC at the moment, gadget watchers are now eagerly awaiting the unveiling of HTC Hima next year.
