Computer manufacturer Hewlett-Packard (HP) has just accepted preorders for the HP Envy x2. This Windows 10 PC is the first machine from the company with an ARM-based processor. Needless to say, it is a bit pricey for a two-in-one tablet, but its features may well be worth the hefty price tag.

The HP Envy x 2's display is a 12.3-inch touchscreen, with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,280 pixels from edge to edge. It has two cameras: a rear-facing one rated at 13 megapixels, and a front-facing "selfie" camera rated at 5 megapixels.

The HP Envy x2 is an "always connected PC," which is a catch-all term for PCs powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor instead of the usual x86 processors from AMD or Intel. These machines have an advantage of a longer-lasting battery life because of the low power demands of the ARM-based processor. For instance, the HP Envy x2's battery life lasts anywhere between 19 to 22 hours.

It also has wireless connectivity almost anywhere, thanks to the help of the integrated cellular modem.

The biggest tradeoff is that the tablet's performance is equal to low- or mid-range PCs that use the traditional x86 processors.

The HP Envy x2 is also fitted with a Qualcomm Adreno 540 graphics processing unit (GPU), with 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 128 GB of flash storage. Wireless connectivity is covered by an 802.11ac Wi-Fi receiver, and the device also supports Bluetooth 5.0.

The device also has a nano-SIM card reader for those who need to experience Long Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity.

For those who choose to transfer their data via wired connection, the HP Envy x2 also has a port for a universal serial bus (USB) 3.0, Type C.

As for audio options, the device has a headphone jack for those who prefer wired earphones over Bluetooth wireless headsets. The device also has high-quality speakers courtesy of electronics company Bang & Olufsen.

The HP Envy x2 is available for pre-order now for $999.
