How to Get Away with Murder ABC

More surprises will be revealed when "How To Get Away With Murder" returns on ABC for its second season.

Series showrunner Pete Nowalk talked about the sophomore season of Shondaland's legal drama thriller during the 2015 Television Critics Association summer press tour. According to Nowalk, a lot of unexpected details about Professor Annalise Keating's (Viola Davis) core students will be revealed.

"We're going to reveal a lot about their backstories, how they met each other. You think you know these people in the show, but you don't know them at all," Norwalk said.

"How To Get Away With Murder" season 2 will pick up after the events that happened at the end of its premiere season, where Annalise and her staff Frank (Charlie Weber) saw the lifeless body of Rebecca (Katie Findlay) in the basement of the professor's house. Both of them denied that they are responsible for her death, which means that either Connor (Jack Falahee), Laurel (Karla Souza), Michaela (Aja Naomi King), or even Rebecca's boyfriend Wes (Alfred Enoch) could have killed their former client.

But even if she if not directly responsible for Rebecca's death, Annalise will still wonder if she should be blamed for another death caused by some of her infamous "Keating 5" students. They will also have to deal with the murder of her cheating husband Sam (Tom Verica), who was accidentally killed by the group last season to protect Rebecca.

"There's gonna be a lot more complications stemming from [Sam's death]," Nowalk revealed.

Meanwhile, the actor who portrays the role of Asher, the only member of Keating's core students who is not involved in any crime, revealed that the mystery of Rebecca's murder will be solved early in the season.

"One of the good things about How to Get Away With Murder is you always get to see resolutions of those twists and turns," Matt McGorry told SheKnows. "I think that's satisfying because I think I've seen shows before where it can be frustrating if a question gets brought up and you never really get an answer to it. I think we do a pretty good job of answering those questions so you will find out — and pretty early on — who killed Rebecca, which is kind of crazy and cool. And, as always, it's very unexpected."

McGorry also said that Asher and Bonnie's (Liza Weil) relationship will continue until the upcoming season, and it could help the self-assured, childish character to mature in a way.

"How To Get Away With Murder" season 2 premieres on Thursday, Sept. 24, on ABC.
