Houston Rockets NBA trade rumors: Francisco Garcia allegedly re-signs for $3.5M

Looks like Francisco Garcia is close to re-signing his contract with the Houston Rockets anytime soon, according to unconfirmed reports.

According to a Twitter post made by Houston Chronicle insider Jonathan Feigen to answer a fan's question, both Garcia's and the Rockets' camps are interested in closing a deal.

Feigen's tweet says, "That's their plan and his, but no agreement on deal yer RT @rjanssaen37: @Jonathen_Feigen is it ture(sic) that the rockets re sign fransico garcia"

Though the Rockets and local media still have no word regarding the deal, the Dominican Republic news website El Caribe reported that Garcia will renew his contract with the team for two years, and will get at least $3.5 million.

However, Garcia's agent Aaron Goodwin also addressed the issue through Chris Haynes's Twitter account, saying that the report is untrue and that no deal had been finalized yet. Still, there are strong speculations that this deal will push through anytime soon.

The 32-year-old player from Dominican Republic had a difficult struggle off the bench during the past season, and was only able to play in just 55 games because of several nagging injuries. He only recorded an average of 35.8 percent shooting beyond the arc, and had a 5.7 average points per game. His skills were not maximized during the playoffs.

Garcia will have to face a much rougher off the bench competition in the upcoming season, especially since Kostas Papanikolaou and Alonzo Gee just signed with the team.

Aside from the news about Garcia, rumors about the possible deal to sign Rajon Rondo are also making the rounds at the camp of Houston Rockets. If that deal pushes through, Rondo's contribution with Dwight Howard and James Harden, two of the team's best players, will make a big impact on Rockets' performance in the next NBA season.
