'House of Cards' season 5 spoilers: the end of the show hasn't been firmed up yet

Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright in "House of Cards" Netflix

"House of Cards" season 5 won't be the show's last. This is what producer Dana Brunetti guaranteed before more reports about the show's cancellation further multiply.

The Netflix hit was recently in the rumor mill mainly because of the report that season 5 will wrap up Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) exploits.

Speaking to CNBC, Brunetti said that he has not thought of the end of "House of Cards," which, for the uninitiated, happens to be the first Netflix original and ultimately took binge-watching to a whole new level.

Fans will remember that the third season of "House of Cards" was not received well as it focused heavily on the problems in the relationship of Frank and Claire (Robin Wright).

However, despite this, the show was renewed for a new season, which was launched to critical acclaim. "House of Cards" season 5 is expected to amp the ante even more.

Brunetti then proceeded to admit that "House of Cards" will be unrecognizable seeing how it is today if it ended up with the "network television."

On that note, the producer said the show "wouldn't be anywhere near as salacious as it is. It would be watered down considerably."

If "House of Cards" was brought to televisions, it will also impede the development Frank had as one of the mist calculating and shrewd character the way it did on Netflix.

There have not been solid updates regarding "House of Cards" season 5, at least with regards to the plot. The cast and crew, however, are now back on set to put together the highly-anticipated new season.

According to "House of Cards" season 5 spoilers, Claire will attempt to take over the presidency from Frank and will do anything to accomplish that.

It is also said that Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly), Frank's most loyal ally, will betray him to get the post for himself.

"House of Cards" season 5 will premiere early next year.
