'House of Cards' season 5 spoilers, release date: Claire hatching vengeful plan against husband

"House of Cards" season 5 will reportedly see Claire rise to power. Netflix

Claire has reportedly been waiting for the right moment to get Frank Underwood out of her path to the presidential seat and this chance seems to have presented itself in "House of Cards" season 5.

The latest reports about the upcoming season of the Netflix hit is that Claire will go from being Frank Underwood's lover and supporter to his biggest rival.

Previous reports have hinted that Frank might meet his doom in "House of Cards" season 5 and Claire will be responsible for his death. After all, Claire has already showed her true face, which is not any different than Frank's cunning, ruthless facade.

In the final moments of "House of Cards" season 4, Claire showed what she is truly capable of and what she really is. It was her who pushed Frank into waging war and bringing forth fear in the land.

Also in the last season, the two show no sign of discomfort and did not even flinch as they watched James Miller get his throat sliced. When the destructive story by Tom Hammerschmidt also goes out, Frank turned to her and no one else.

With this, it can be said that Claire has always been behind him and has the power over him at some point. He listens to her and knows all his secrets, which gives her the upper hand.

Rumors also suggest the possibility that all this time, what Claire has been doing and every word she told Frank was part of an elaborate plan that will eventually lead to him losing his seat of power and all this will bear fruits in "House of Cards" season 5.

But despite the possibility of Claire betraying Frank, one cannot deny the power they have together. "House of Cards" season 4 effectively showed that. The things they can cook up and do with their minds together are almost always indestructible.

"House of Cards" season 5 is expected to air March next year.
