After spending time in different cities like Baghdad and Berlin, "Homeland" will finally feature the dramatic adventure of Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and her colleagues at the CIA when the series returns for season 6.

During the winter press tour of the Television Critics Association in Pasadena early January, Showtime President David Nevins revealed that the series will be closer to home next season.

"Homeland will be shot next year in New York City, in and around New York," Nevins said. "It will be set domestically. It will be set primarily in the New York area, but not exclusively."

In season 5, "Homeland" was entirely shot in Germany where Carrie and her daughter transferred after leaving the CIA and all the unfortunate incidents that happened in season 4. When life seemed to start improving for her little family, Carrie once again became intertwined with the chaos involving the U.S. intelligent agency and its foreign counterparts as well as the threats from the ruthless terrorists. For the upcoming season, Carrie will return to the U.S. to deal with more chaos regarding the country's security.

Nevins also revealed in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly that they want to create another America story after facing all the challenges that Carrie experienced in Pakistan, Afghanista, and Europe.

"I think the actors will be happy to be back in the U.S. for a year. I don't think it's necessarily going to stay there forever, but there was a strong interest in doing a domestic story from the creative team," Nevins said.

Meanwhile, Showtime programming president Gary Levine also addressed the fans' concern regarding the fate of Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend), whose life was left hanging during the end of season 5.

"Quinn is severely damaged. There is no question about it. The life-or-death question remains. But if he should live, it will not be in any way, shape or form the way he has lived to date," Levine revealed.

Showtime has yet to reveal the premiere date of "Homeland" season 6.
