The stage is being set for the return of the Wildcats in Disney's "High School Musical 4" sometime in 2018.

Disney Channel announced the return of their most successful original movie in March, saying a new film from the franchise which will be called "High School Musical 4: East Meets West" is under development. A nationwide casting call was immediately ordered, where it was said that new actors were needed to fill the roles of the new characters for the upcoming movie.

The new characters who will appear in the fourth "High School Musical" film include:

  • Erin -- She is the only female player on East High School's soccer team. She reportedly likes her teammate Derek but is having second thoughts because of his bad boy image.
  • Derek – He is the tough guy with a big heart. He is described as a very talented soccer player and an excellent dancer who teaches dances classes at his family studio during his free time.
  • Campbell – He is the soccer team captain who is described as Troy Bolton 2.0. He is the cousin of Sharpay and Ryan Evans, and known for having his eyes set on Erin.
  • Tamara – She is a cheer squad member and the campus's former queen bee who will do everything to regain her status.
  • Nathalie – She is another member of the cheer squad and Erin's best friend.

The latest reports claim that the auditions were finally over, and the cameras will soon begin to roll as early as next month.

According to reports, a tipster who calls herself Lindsay B revealed that the cast and crew of "High School Musical 4" will start shooting somewhere in Vancouver or Los Angeles in August. But Disney has yet to confirm if the information is true.

At the moment, none of the original cast members have confirmed their participation in the next installment of "High School Musical," but fans are still hoping to see Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron reprise their roles as Gabriella Montez and Troy Bolton, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ashley Tisdale reportedly hinted that she is not interested to reprise her role as Sharpay in the upcoming film.
