HBO Orders season 3 from 'Crashing' and 'High Maintenance'

It's official: "Crashing" and "High Maintenance" are coming back for more new episodes.

HBO has officially ordered season 3 renewals for shows "Crashing" and "High Maintenance," reports confirmed. Both shows are currently airing their second installments. There is still no official word from HBO if the new Alan Ball drama "Here and Now" will be picked up for another run after its first season.

Created by and starring Pete Holmes, "Crashing" debuted its sophomore season on Jan. 14. The series is inspired by Holmes' own personal experience as a stand-up comedian. It offers a behind-the-scenes look at home the world of stand-up comedy works. Holmes also executive produces, alongside Judah Miller and Judd Apatow.

"High Maintenance," on the other hand, is a comedy created by Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld. The show, which offered a glimpse at the grinding routines and cramped apartments of New Yorkers, returned for its 10-episode second season on Jan. 19. Sinclair starred as The Guy, a bearded man who delivers pot to his growing clientele that continues to make him busier than ever.

Screen Rant points out that news of the back-to-back renewal is not only great for "Crashing" and "High Maintenance" fans, but also for HBO. The premium cabler can now add more episodes to its growing library of content while its competition against Amazon and Netflix heats up.

As previously reported, Netflix has been on a massive spending spree lately, arranging deals with two of the most popular series creators in the industry right now: Ryan Murphy and Shonda Rhimes. The streaming platform also signed a four-picture deal with brothers Jay and Mark Duplass, who are also frequent collaborators of HBO.

The third seasons of "Crashing" and "High Maintenance" are expected to premiere in 2018 on HBO. Exact release dates for the two shows have yet to be announced by the network.
