'Halo 6' release date news: 'Halo 5' sequel won't be exclusive to Xbox One? E3 announcement expected

"Halo 6" is expected to be released to both the Xbox One and PC. 343 Industries

As developer 343 Industries prepare for the "Halo 5: Guardians" Warzone Firefight DLC, more and more talks also shift towards the release date of the game's successor, "Halo 6."

Word on the street is that the next iteration of the hit Xbox shooter will be announced in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 next week.

There are even reports that the "Halo 6" will be the first title to be released for the PC. As fans already know, the shooter has always been exclusive to the Xbox One.

However, Microsoft might be ready to take the fun to the Windows 10 as well. The software giant has already expressed their plans to do so and started with the release of "Fable Legends" in the Xbox One and PC.

The "Halo 5" Forge mode's availability for the PC can also be considered a baby step for the future of "Halo" franchise to be released outside of Xbox One.

Should "Halo 6" make its way to the PC, the franchise will definitely get more fans. Microsoft can also expect a surge of new fans in the "Halo" community.

While "Halo 6" is confirmed as a future project for 343 Industries, it is unclear if fans will get their first look at E3 2016. For starters, "Halo Wars 2," the much-awaited real-time strategy sequel, will be playable there.

Another thing is that 343 Industries is busy with the Warzone Firefight DLC for "Halo 5," which is deemed as the biggest update for the game.

"A wide variety of teams are hard at work to get their final work and polish completed. These include the Warzone team, who are finishing up the PvE mode, the Warzone Boss Refresh... and more," the company wrote in its latest blog post.

The "Halo 5" Warzone Firefight will be released at the end of June. Whether or not "Halo 6" will be made official this month, only time will tell.
