'Halo 5: Guardians' news: 343 Industries offers public stats API, REQ pricing details for upcoming title

More details about "Halo 5: Guardians" are starting to make waves online days before the first-person shooter video game comes out.

Just recently, 343 Industries revealed that the upcoming installment from the "Halo" franchise will be able to support a public stats API for the benefit of game developers. According to the game studio, the API will allow the public to have an access with player stats from the game, develop new apps and websites, as well as grow communities based on new gaming experiences.

The Halo API will be able to back up the following stats:

  • Service Record - meant for life-to-date stats for each player
  • Match History - gives access to all played match
  • Carnage Report - complete statistical breakdown for all player in a match

At the moment, the Halo API program is currently under private beta, and 343 Industries is currently in talks with professional and community organizations such as ESL, MLG, Halo Tracker, and Halo Charts to make sure that "Halo 5" will have a smooth launch later this month.

The game developer also offered more details about the microtransaction card system of "Halo 5: Guardians" called REQ, including earning in-game and its real-world cost.

According to the the game developer's post, players can earn REQ packs through the following:

  • Leveling-Up Spartan Rank: Players using the multiplayer mode can earn XP to increase the levels in their Spartan Rank. And each time that a new Spartan Rank level has been achieved, a REQ Pack will be given as a reward.
  • Completing Commendations: A completed commendation level will give players a bonus XP and a REQ Pack reward.
  • Supply & Promotional Packs: These REQ Packs can be obtained after unlocking different codes that come with special Halo licensed products when purchased in retail stores and through different promotions.

The REQ Packs can be used to get in-game items like gear, skins, and other special advantages while playing the game.

Another piece of information from the Halo Waypoint report stated that there are three basic boosters that players can buy in "Halo 5" using REQ points or actual money. They can choose between the Bronze pack that is worth 1250 REQ points, the Silver pack worth 5000 REQ points or $1.99, as well as Gold pack that can be obtained for 10,000 REQ points or $2.99.

Players can also purchase a Warzone bundle, which they can either get from the game's limited editions or purchase for only $24.99.

"Halo 5: Guardians" is scheduled to be released exclusively on Xbox One starting Oct. 27.
